‘The Heavens Reflect Our Labours’. The Steel Works. Synonymous with Scunthorpe. It’s here in 1995 where I started my career in video production, working in the video studio at British Steel, as it was known then. 14 amazing years filming awe-inspiring sights of molten metal pouring, steel speeding through mill stands, billowing steam clouds as coke is quenched. Travelling to all British Steel sites across England, Scotland, Wales and Europe. And then in 2009 came redundancy. Time to set up Big Fat Pigeon productions – not great timing as the world was in the middle of the ‘Great Recession’! Since 2009, I’ve had the pleasure of working with a number of businesses located in Scunthorpe – The HBP Group, Nisa, Ongo – to name but a few. In fact, I’ve been helping Ongo create a variety of video productions since 2010 when they were North Lincolnshire Homes and I’ve grown with their marketing and comms team as they’ve changed and developed over the years, creating community group videos, event videos, videos for their colleague conference, training videos, recruitment videos and much more.
